On My Way...

I'll soon be where I need to be. In the meantime, please bare with me. The road is really long, and sometimes bumpy, but I'll do my best to reach my destination as soon as possible. Sometimes, things can be overwhelming and uncontrollable, but that's no reason to give up your dreams, right? That's why I'm NOT closing this blog down. I'm still alive, and whoever is alive dreams. Some people dream more than others, but by now you should know that I amd a big dreamer. I hope that you'll understand that I need to go through endless roads and choose between different paths. Everyone has to go through that sometime in their life. Don't worry, I'm on my way of coming back to the blogging world. I'm not sure how long it will last, only time will tell...

PFW fw 2011-2012: The Forest of Monsieur Lagerfeld.

This is one of the shows I always anticipate during PFW and it never lets me down! Can you guess which one it is? I'll give you two hints. It was inspired by the German artist Caspar David Friedrich and the designer is no one else but Karl Lagerfeld. Well, I think no more hints are needed.

MFW Highlight: "Every Woman Has a Star"

Even though Milan Fashion Week ended a few days ago, and Paris Fashion Week has already started, I'm still daydreaming with the stars that invaded the catwalks of Dolce&Gabbana's show. "Every woman has a star" said Steffano Gabbana backstage, and the truth is that is something that I have always believed in.
The stars weren't the only thing that made me fall in love with the collection. The accesories, sparkles, blazers, and the touch of lace that never misses any of their show, played a major role as well. Not to talk about the mood of masculine vs. feminine looks which was the main focus of the collection. The only thing that I have to mention is that there sometimes were too many sparkles for my taste, but I guess that was done to emphasize the proganists of the show (aka the stars) and to add a touch of femininity. Overall, I found that this collection makes two very opposite looks work together by adding a touch of magic. I hope that next season my life will be full of stars. And if you haven't found yours, look for it because it's somewhere up there in the sky. This wasn't only a spectacular show, and one of my personal favorites for a while, but it was also a show wich had a message that we can all learn from.

LFW: Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011

Although I am not a big fan of LFW, I always look forward to the Burberry Prorsum show. For me, Burberry Prorsum is like the icing on top of the cake of LFW. Even though Christopher Bailey showed his Fall 2011 collection to the world on Moday 21st February, I thought it was still worth it to share it with you. As many of you know the show was live streaming on to more than 140 countries through iPads and iPhones, the official website and not to mention some blogs like Style Scrapbook. If you didn't get the chance to watch it here are some pictures that will get you caught up with what Burberry planned for next season.

A touch of color can make the grey fall days seem a lot brighter, right?

Fur will be our best friend for Fall 2011. And the best is that you can mix it with other materials. I found that very interesting.

That military jacket is to die for and the black and white outfit can never go out of style.

The "dalmatian hats" above bring a twist to the outfits. What do you think about them?

I love these transparent plastic cape raincoats. I think they might be the next must-have of the season. Just like the aviator jackets for Fall 2010.

NYFW never stops bringing surprises season after season. I'm always amazed to see the different styles that one can find in the Big Apple. From Michael Kors' all American girls to Rodarte's prairie girls and Marc Jacobs dots, everything was different but they all had that "New York feeling" in them.

What can I say? I'll let the pictures tell you what my favorite moments were, not just in the runway but outside the runway as well.

A long time...

I know that it has been ~~a long time~~ an extremely long time since my last post. Lately, I haven't been able to access the internet constantly and as every blogger knows the internet is absolutely necesary. It's just like a cake, if you don't have flour you can't bake it, right?

Well, my conditions haven't allowed me to blog very often either. I know I should have warned you sooner but , as you may have noticed, I'm taking a break from blogging.

I love how fashion can sometimes be timeless and appealing to people a few decades later. That's why vintage photographs can never should alway be kept in a special inspiration folder in everyone's computer.

That beaded dress that Twiggy is wearing is a work of art, don't you think?

Red lipstick, the kitten flick, arched eyebrows, and a chic hat make this look effortlessly stylish.

Audrey Hepburn seems to pull off the tomboy look quite well, right?

A simple stripped tee for a sunny day at the beach. It somehow reminds me to Coco Chanel.

I've never wrapped a scarf around my head but this is encouraging me to.

I never thought a simple cut out could make a dress so elegant.

Simple and chic... very Audrey Hepburn indeed.

After the news of Carine Roitfeld’s resignation as the editor in chief of Vogue Paris broke out, people were intrigued to know who would replace her. In fact, lists started to be written about likely choices. I remember reading one on Fashionista.com and the rumors were that Emannuelle Alt was a first candidate. Just yesterday the rumors were confirmed. Emannuelle Alt will continue Carine’s legacy in Vogue Paris. “It’s a great honor for me, but also a great pleasure to become the editor of Vogue Paris that I know so well. In working with very talented teams I will try to develop the the incredible potential of Vogue Paris,” Emannuelle stated in Vogue.fr.

I’m probably not the only one who is looking forward to see the February cover of Vogue Paris. Do you think Emmanuelle will incorporate more of her own style into the magazine? What would you like to see in Vogue Paris from now on? I definitely want to see more backstage images, editorials, and discoveries of "new" designers.

A Decade of Vogue Paris by Carine Roitfeld: My Favorites

As we all know a couple of weeks ago on December 17, 2010, Carine Roitfeld, the Editor in Chief of Vogue Paris, resigned to focus on personal projects after directing the magazine for ten years. The unstopable news spread around the world in just a few hours. Everyone, including myself, could not believe what they were reading. "Who can replace Carine ?" was one of the multiple questions that popped into my mind right after reading numerous articles from different websites (anyone want to take a guess? I would say that Emmanuelle Alt is the first runner). According to Jonathan Newhouse, under the direction of Carine throughout this decade, "Vogue Paris received record levels of circulation and advertising and editorial success" (source).

Everything first started with the May Vogue Paris 2001 cover above featuring Natassa Vojnovic by Greg Kadel. Since then, Carine has always left us breathless with the 98 simple, elegant, and always well polished covers she directed. Anyway, I've prepared a little hommage à Carine (as the French would say)of each of my favorite magazine covers of the years she has directed the magazine. Isn't it the best way to end 2010?

This season designers couldn't resit to animal prints, and especially the big cat print. Leopard prints walked down the catwalks of Dolce&Gabbana, Moschino, Gucci, Salvatore Ferragamo, Etro,and Mulberry just to name a few. When I saw this editorial from Elle Mexico, I thought it perfectly sumed up how to wear and style them. If you feel that wearing animal prints from head-to-toe is too much, you can always incorporate them in your accesories such as in bags, gloves, and boots.

Do You Remember Her?: Burberry Prorsum Pre-fall 2011

After my brief absence there is a lot of cathcing up I need to do especially with all of the new Pre-fall 2010 Collections. I'm gone for a few days and everything has changed. It's incredible how fast the world of fashion moves. Anyways, as I was looking through the pictures of Burberry's Pre-fall 2011 Collection, I asked myself "Doesn't this face sound familiar?" How about you ask yourself the same question. Well, you might remeber my post about Asos lookbook featuring the same model. Going from Asos to Burberry is a big jump, and I'm looking forward to see what else this model can do. For now I have to say that these long Burberry dresses look gorgeous on her. Do you think she will be the nest "it" girl?

What the Stars Have to Tell Us...

Although I don't frequently read horoscopes, I have always been curious about what each sign represents and how it relates to someone's personality. This editorial ,from Vogue UK December 2010, left me breathless. Not only are the pictures beautiful but each sign is symbolized in a very unique way. Interview: Ceci est UPLA!

You're walking down the streets of Paris, near Café de Flore and your eyes glance over at an effortlessly stylish women wearing a chic, classic, shoulder bag. In a few seconds you find yourself overwhelmed with questions. "Where did she get it? When was that bag first invented? Is that the secret behind her style?" And if you just keep walking a couple more blocks, you'll find all of the answers in a 300m2 boutique-studio named UPLA in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Près. You enter the shop and are fascinated by all of your choices. The bag that the woman was wearing is available in 25 models and 60 versions each with a different color, material or pattern.
And how can the UPLA style be described? In four words: "cool, chic, timeless , and so Parisian".

Now, let's return to reality...

Sabine Perring is currently the creative director of UPLA and kindly offered to answer a few questions.I am not going to ruin the surprise for you. Just keep reading and I hope all of your questions will be answered.

 UPLA'S classic "besace du pêcheur"

 1 - Upla is a famous for its classic messenger bag called a "fisherman's pouch" also known as besace du pêcheur in French . How and when was this timeless bag born ?

The  Upla brand is born in 1973 in the district Les Halles. This is a  symbolic place of the seventies, quite “underground”. The creators were  so "avant-gardists" because they have invented the first thematic corner  shop, with all the products they loved. You could find Dutch bikes,  Crabtree and Evelyn perfumes, such as organic jam, Smith’s carpenter  pants, Swedish pull-overs... That’s in 1975 that they invented the  fisherman’s pouch. It’s an immediate hit: men and women no longer want  to wear a bag on the shoulder, they’re libertarians and want to show a  new way of life. This place becomes a must.

2 - The brand was first created in the 70s. Do you think the costumers have changed since then ? 

Yes and no.

No,  they have not changed. There is an affective link between our female  customers and their pouch: they have become attached to it. Some women  follow us since our inception, and we never disappointed them.

And  yes, they have changed in the way that our pouch has changed. Now the  pouch can be seen on girls from high school or university, at chic  parties, with high heels and a little dress. Or you can see it on  mothers at the square, who use it to carry the baby bottles and the  children snack. These are style completely different by the pouch always  looks fresh.

 3- Seeing strangers wearing one of your bags must still be exiting. How do you fell about that?

It  makes me very proud to see our bags crossing the boundaries. I can’t  help thinking these people have found in our collection something that  they really liked.

These are proofs we are right to think about moving to the other side of the Atlantic next year.

4 - As artistic Director of the brand, what does your job consist of? 

First  of all, I am surrounded with a very close team, very involved and so  bustling with energy. We keep an eye on the tendencies, but we don’t  want to lose our identity, our roots, and so we feel free to take only  what we want in fashion.

Our first motto is to stay faithful and true to our brand.

My role is quite similar to a conductor: I do anything from the choice of the collection to the production.

5-Who makes up your design team in your boutique-studio in the heart of Saint Germain-des-Prés?

 We actually have a great commercial space in the heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, near the corner of the café de Flore.

For  the winter 2011 season, we took the decision to work with some young  designers around the pouch. We can’t wait to see the results.

6-Do you think the economic crisis has changed your way of working ? Did it have any impact on the brand ?

 Not  really. Women come back to values, and our brand is timeless. They wear  our bags, they store them, buy a new color or choose leather instead of  cotton, but they always love bringing their old bags out again. It is  because they are still in.

 7-  Upla's style is simple, chic, elegant and heavily influenced by  Parisian style. What kind of woman would wear one of your bags? What does this style represents in terms of personality ?

 A  determined woman, who thinks the it-bag is out, and who is not blinded  by fashion. She picks up in fashion what she wants, what she thinks is  good for her. She is not a prisoner of the trend, she is precise and she  prefers safe bets.

She is realistic.

 8-Finally, how would you wear the basic pouch ?

These days, I wear my pouch long, under my haunch, with jeans and a Chanel jacket, with high heel boots. That’s my Saint Germain chic street style.

Street Style Inspiration: How to Wear a Scarf

Luckily, inspiration can always help and especially street style. Added to that a couple of videos won't hurt, right? 

Some people consider scarfs as accessories but I consider them as "friends" who are always there for you to keep you warm and cozy.

Lanvin for H&M: My Opinions

Some of my favorite looks:

I know that there are thousands and thousands of posts about Lanvin's collection for H&M, but before you think "Yet another Lanvin for H&M post, can't someone do something more original?" read it.
I was going over the Lanvin for H&M Lookbook this morning, which has been realeased the 3 November, and asked myself a simple question, "Is this really luxury? Is this really Lanvin?" Alber Elbaz states that "It's not about a dress for less" but I still think Lanvin fro H&M is not 100% Lanvin. Don't get me wrong, giving people the opportunity of having a Lanvin dress in their closet is a great idea and it is probably any girl's dream, but I still think it isn't luxury in its complete form anymore. What is the point of lining up hours in advance to get your hands on one of these Lanvin dresses that people from all over the world are buying at the same exact time? After all would you consider lining up for hours to get a Lanvin dress a luxury? In my opinion, part of what makes having a Lanvin dress special is the process of going to the shop, carefully trying the dress on, touching the fabrics, looking at the perfect construction of each garment around you, and living the shop with a big radiant smile and holding a Lanvin bag in your hand knowing that a few people own what's inside.

Honestly, H&M did a remarkable job with the whole campaing. They used the best marketing strategies, such as the blog competition, which were very original and new. The video was also very promising even though the length was longer than usual. I love the whole slogan of "I want Lanivn not flowers".

I'm curious of what will happen on 23 when the Lanvin for H&Mcollection, which according to Vogue.co.uk is "the most exciting collection H&M has ever produced", hits the stores at 8:00 (cet). After all, I have to admit that I wouldn't mind having one of these dresses.

Le Ball Masqué

It was the time of the year when everyone dressed up, with capes, lace, masks, and such. When the last day of October finally came, no one could hide their excitement any longer and all of them went to trick or treat around the gleaming city of lights. It was a beautiful night in Paris, the pith black sky only had a couple twinkly stars that all seemed to be tremendously far. There were a few gentle cold breezes of air from time to time, which made the leaves swirl until they reached the ground. The girls were freezing, as the cold penetrated through their skin. But, they tried their hardest to ignore all of their goose bumps since they knew they would soon be there. When they finally reached their destination, all the girls were flabbergasted. They never imagined Carine's party could look as spooky as a haunted house, but of course, it was extremely more stylish. A big sign with red bloody letters hung from the doorknob. It said "Ball Masqué. Pas de masque, pas d'entrée." Even though some girls had left their masks at home, they still knocked on the door. When Carine opened the door they asked "Trick or treat?" The night was just going to start...

Asos: What's Not to Love?

Lately, this is one of the best lookbooks I have seen. It is simple, aesthetically pleasing , and everything comes in the right amount. Just like cupcakes: the dough needs to be simple with the right amounts of flour, sugar, eggs, and baking soda. Then, you can decorate them with frosting and sprinkles to make them look delicious.

The styling of this lookbook is perfect. The color palette, which consists of nudes, browns, greens, and a touch of violet, is ideal for this season. The combination of different textures, like knit, leather, fur, and chiffon make the outfits even more interesting and appealing. And then, there is the perfect girl for the brand; young, beautiful, and fresh. I don't know who the model is but I think she will have a promising future.
So, what's not to love? I think this lookbook has completed its task successfully. It isn't only beautifully styled but it is also simple. On top of that it draws the costumer's attention immediately. Just admit it, wouldn't you love to have a few of these pieces?

Interview with Emilie from My Little Fashion Diary

Have you ever wanted to read someone else's diary? What if I tell you that the person who owns the diary attends all kinds of fashion events, goes to Fashion Weeks, meets celebrities, and inspires you with the pictures of her "Looks of the Day" that she keeps inside it. Would you read it? Well, if you answered yes (and I hope most of you did) Emilie,gives us the key to her Little Fashion Diary and lets us know more about her world beyond fashion.

The Trendy Fashionista (me): 1-Tell me something about your life, educational background, and family. What do you actually do for living?
Emilie: 'm French, I studied Marketing and Communication and worked in Paris in fashion during 2 years.
Then I met someone in Luxembourg and moved there.
I'm now the manager of a real estate and I'm in charge of the Communication department.
TTF: 2-How did you become interested in the world of fashion?
E: I think I've always been interested in fashion, even when I was a child :)

TTF: 3-You have recently been to Paris Fashion Week , attended amazing shows including Dior, Sonia Rykiel, Valentino, and meet many other fashion bloggers, magazine editors, and legends of the fashion
industry. How did you have that amazing opportunity that millions of girls out there would die for? What is something you will never forget about that adventure?
E: Going to Fashion Week is amazing.
You are there, running around, going from a show to another, meeting great bloggers, photographers, models, designers, it's a wonderful experience for any girl who loves fashion!
And it's always amazing to watch all the great looks in the street during this time of the year!
Is there anything I will always remember about this season? Well, at the Valentino show I met Alexa Chung... and she came to me to tell me how much she loved my outfit! I died!

TTF: 4-Everyone knows that during PFW, there are many street style photographers, icons of the fashion industry, and celebrities. So what are a few things to keep in mind when you have to decide what to wear to PFW?
E: The great thing is that during fashion week you can play with clothes and dress as you want! You can be creative and express yourself!
I always stick to my style and wear my favorite items like the Chanel suit or the Balmain jacket you may have seen in my posts!
I've got some great pieces I use a few times, but in a wonderful way!

TTF: 5-From your blog’s name I’m sure many of your readers wonder if you actually keep a diary or if you have ever kept one in the past. Do you?
E: Yes, I kept a diary when I was a teenager! I really wonder where it can be now! It would be funny to read it!

TTF: 6- What or who inspires you when you style an outfit for some of your posts?
E: I take some inspiration from fashion magazines, street style blogs, my favorite is Stockholm Street Style ( I was so happy to get featured there during Fashion Week), and I like to express myself through my outfits!

TTF: 7- Autumn, your favourite season, is here. What trends are you
definitely following this season?
E: This season, I'm loving shearling, aviators jacket, leopard accessories, brown and camel tons!
TTF: 8- Do you have any dreams you would like to see become true in the next few years?
E: I would love to work for a fashion magazine ;)

Better Late than Never: Fall/Winter 2010 Trends

Yes, Fall is definitely here and it will stay for a while, followed by its sibling Winter. And it is never too late to follow trends, right? After all, they always help you out when you are looking for something to buy around stores or when you simply don't have a clue of what to wear in the morning.

Capes, you can't leave the house without one.

Cat prints are all over the runway! Wear them as dresses, coats or even accessories like bags, belts, and pumps.

Don't worry animal lovers, even faux fur counts. Just remember that nothing will keep you warmer and give you that instant glamour as fur does.

Camel is the new black It just goes with everything and looks fabulous on everyone. You'll want to wear it forever.

Shearling jacket, one word: must-have. Look at Burberry's shearling jackets in shades of khakis and chocolates and you'll never go wrong. Give it a twist and wear yours with a party dress.

Knits are the perfect piece to have in your closet. During fall wear them while the temperate is still slightly warm. During Winter they'll be a must for your layered look.

Menswear inspired suits are the key.

As Coco Chanel said "Always take something off before leaving the house". One thing to keep in mind is that less is more. Simplicity and luxury combined give the best effect.

This Fall color, color, and more color won't hurt because that is what it is all about! And the way to wear it, very simple: from head-to-toe.

It's all about curves and a touch of femininity and vintage.

Note: Don't feel as though you need to follow trends just because you see them all over fashion magazines and fashion blogs. Follow them because you like them or want to experiment and play with something new. Most importantly don't wear a total look, you wouldn't want to look like a picture of style.com would you?

Fall Is in the Air

And autumn is finally here. You can feel it in the air as a nice gentle breeze blows on your face. The leaves are gradually turning to different shades of brown and orange as if someone had painted them. Then, they swirl and gently lie on the ground until it is all covered looking like a blanket that makes a slight cracking sound as you take your next step. Yes, fall is definitely here and it better not leave yet.

Paris Fashion Week SS11: My Favorites!

As always Paris Fashion Week leaves me speechless but this year more than ever. And the truth is I have nothing to tell you because everything is so parfait and you should see it with your eyes to believe it. I often catch myself daydreaming about the these collections and Paris. Maybe one day,. maybe, my dream will come true and I'll see PFW with my own eyes.

Unfortunately like everything is life, yesterday PFW came to an end... but don't worry I'm sure you're as anxious as me to see the Haute Couture SS11 collections in January. Let's see how this time PFW surprises us...

Milan Fashion Week SS11: My Favorites!

Milan Fashion Week always surprises me. And I think it is mainly due to the fact that each designer expresses their own point of view in a unique way completely different to the others. If we look back at the collections, there are so many different types of "girls": there's the banana Chiquita girl (Prada), the minimalist "girl" (MaxMara), the wild "girl" (Roberto Cavalli), the very Italin cappuccino lover "girl" (should we say donna?) (Fendi), the forever yound and beautiful bridesmaid "girl" (Dolce & Gabbana), and among many others the very luxurious athletical "girl" (Marni). Is diversity what makes Milan Fashion Week so intriguing, surprising, and for the lack of a better word amazing? Yes, I thik so, you?

New York Fashion Week SS11: My Favorites!

New York Fashion Week always surprises me and as time goes by it only gets better. This time I can't help to be overwhelmed by all of the amazing designs, from Michael Kors simple chic to Marc Jacobs colorful seventies. If someone asked me "which one is your favorite?" I don't think I'll be able to answer. There is something special about every collection which makes me love them all. However, I've tried my hardest to come up with my top 30 favorite looks. I hope you'll understand that choosing the top 30 looks from NYFW isn't an easy task :)

Please Spring. come fast so we can all wear these looks!

Interview with Belén from B* A LA MODA

How many of you wished you had a personal stylist at home? Well, if you do, you will probably be thrilled to know that it is possible.
When I first came across Belen's blog ,B* A LA MODA, and discovered all its amazing style tips and videos, I thought that Belén was just like having a stylist home. In her posts she would tell you what to wear on special ocations ,like a job interview, or give you quick tips on how to make the most out of your belts. Today she'll tell us a bit about herself, her life, and her passion for fashion.

1-How would you describe yourself? What is something about yourself that your readers don’t know yet?

I would describe myself as a passionate person, courageous, family oriented and with a strong will. And very Gemini!

There is something really important my readers don´t know yet but I will unveil it next Thursday in my blog. :)

2- When and why did you become interested in fashion?

I have always been interesed in some way. I like every aspect of it. I have tried the design, production and sales departments in different companies. Of course, I love wearing clothes too.

3- You started blogging in September 2009. What inspired you to do so?

I started it for professional reasons mainly. My husband and I are in the internet business and we needed to have our own project and understand how it works. We like producing entertainment too, since we are a production company, and that is why we decided to do a video blog.

4-In your blog you say that “there are things that I care more about than fashion”. What are those things?

My family, my friends and my beliefs.

5-How did you come up with the idea of doing videos with style tips and where do you get them?

Doing videos is something really natural for us. We are shooting almost every day and are used to it. So it came out naturally. Regarding the ideas for the videos, I have to thank my followers for that since they give me the best suggestions you can imagine.

6-Have you ever planned on writing a book with all of your tips?

Yes, we have thought about it, but in order to do it I feel like I should have a valuable opinion. And I am far from that at this point. My husband thinks about this kind of things more than I do. We want to take the project to all the possible levels. We are enterpreneurs by heart and are always thinking about the next step.

7-If you could own someone else’s closet, whose would it be?
Sarah Jessica Parker or Withney Port.

8-What is the best style tip anyone ever gave you?
I can not come up with one at the moment. I am thinking that I haven´t received that many tips. Could you give me one, please? :)

The Story of the Sweater Girl

There once was a girl who wore sweaters everyday and she was known as the sweater girl. Her sweater collection was huge, from Prada to Missoni and a few Louis Vuitton and Dole&Gabbana too. But all she dreamed about, during day and night, was getting a new one. So, to pay off her bills and earn a few bucks,she had to babysit her little brother all the time. However, she never gave up. And as time passed, her sweater collection grew and became part of the Guinness World Records. One day, Grace Coddington called from Vogue and asked “Would you like to be part of the September issue?” and the sweater girl replied “Yes of course, it would be a pleasure.”
And this is the sweater girl, a girl who fell in love with sweaters.

Something Arrived in the Mail

After I interviewed Ana from Abataba I couldn’t resist buying a couple of her adorable jewelry. I just received my order and I couldn’t be happier with it.

Apart from the fact that my order arrived promptly and everything was neatly wrapped with blue tissue paper and undamaged, I love the materials of the items. And now you’re probably wondering what I got so here are some pictures.

Who Is Patrizia?

Today I came across Patrizia Pepe's Fall 2010 Ad Campaign, and you know, I'm wondering who the girl behind all of the bizare objects is.

When I first saw the ad I thought: "Why would they hide the model's face?". "After all, doesn't the model of an ad campaign reflect the kind of women that would wear the clothes of the brand? "
I came to two conclusions
-Maybe, the Patrizia Pepe woman likes to be mysterious
- and the brand wanted to do something different and fun to attract the customer's attention.

On the other hand, I feel that the objects take away the focus of the clothes. Instead of looking at what the model is wearing, you look at the object hiding the model's face. But then, I also feel like the fact that the rubber duck is hiding the model's face makes you look back at the sparkly golden dress and analyze it to imagine what she must have looked like. Similar to what a detective would do who's trying to find out someone's identity.

Overall I think this Ad Campaign is fun, unique, and at the same time mysterious, you?

DIY: Cat Earrings Inspired by Miu Miu's Cat Prints (SS10)

And as fall collections start invading stores, it is time to say goodbye to our favorite collections from SS10. One of my favourite, as some of you might know, is Miu Miu’ s collection with its adorable swallows and cute cats, whom I dream all day about. So one day, while I was day dreaming about Miu Miu’s cats, I thought: “Wouldn’t it be great to have some “Miu Miu” cat earrings?”. And here I take you through every step of my dream come true.

Before you begin this DIY, I would recommend you to read the WHOLE procedure. It will prevent you from messing up.

What you’ll need:

-a good pair of scissors

- 1 black or dark blue Sharpie (permanent marker)

-Magic Plastic (also known as Shrinky Dinks) you can buy it here and

-2 earring french hooks (you can easily find them in craft stores or ebay)

-hole puncher

-round nose pliers

-2 jump rings

Note: READ the instructions that come with the Magic Plastic (Shirky Dinks) you bought before using it.

1- After you’ve gathered all your materials, you’re ready to begin. The first thing you need to do if print the cat template (the outline) that I made. To do so click here:http://www.flickr.com/photos/thetrendyfashionista/4853170845/. Make sure the cat is about 9 cm.

2- Place the template under the Magic Plastic with the rough side facing upwards. With a dark blue Sharpie (or permanent marker) outline the cat. Be careful not to move and try to be as precise as possible!!

3- Now, carefully cut the cat by going around its outline. Leave some space at the tip of the tail , like in the picture below, to hole punch it later (see step 6)

4- Repeat step #2 and 3 so you’ll have 2 cats(one for each ear).

5- Preheat the oven to 135º C (Read your instructions because the temperature might be different)

6- Hole punch the bit of plastic you left on the tip of the tail in step # 3. Be careful,try to make the hole in the center is possible.

7- Place the cats in the middle of a piece of carboard (or tinfoil) with the rough side facing upwards and then put on a tray. Next, put them in the oven (this will make them shirk3 to 4 times its size) The instuctions that come with the Magic Plastic when you purchased it should tell you how long to leave it in the oven. (Note: it’s usually 3 to 5 minutes).

(Note: the shape of the cats might come out a bit irregular but that's normal)

8- Once the cats are flat, take them out of the oven . Be careful not to burn yourself.

9- Wait a few minutes until they cool down. Then, you’ll need to the earring hooks through the wholes of the cat’s tails. To do so, look at the pictures below that clearly show the procedure.

10- Now, you’re ready to wear these adorable cat earings inspired by the Miu Miu cat prints from SS 2010. Your friends will love them to and probably ask you to make some for them :)
