A Decade of Vogue Paris by Carine Roitfeld: My Favorites

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

As we all know a couple of weeks ago on December 17, 2010, Carine Roitfeld, the Editor in Chief of Vogue Paris, resigned to focus on personal projects after directing the magazine for ten years. The unstopable news spread around the world in just a few hours. Everyone, including myself, could not believe what they were reading.  "Who can replace Carine  ?" was one of the multiple questions that popped into my mind right after reading numerous articles from different websites (anyone want to take a guess? I would say that Emmanuelle Alt is the first runner).  According to Jonathan Newhouse, under the direction of Carine throughout this decade, "Vogue Paris received record levels of circulation and advertising and editorial success" (source).

Everything first started with the May Vogue Paris 2001 cover above featuring Natassa Vojnovic by Greg Kadel. Since then, Carine  has always left us breathless with the 98 simple, elegant, and always well polished covers she directed.  Anyway, I've prepared a little hommage Ă  Carine (as the French would say)of each of my favorite magazine covers of the years she has directed the magazine. Isn't it the best way to end 2010?
