Today I came across Patrizia Pepe's Fall 2010 Ad Campaign, and you know, I'm wondering who the girl behind all of the bizare objects is.

When I first saw the ad I thought: "Why would they hide the model's face?".  "After all, doesn't the model of an ad campaign reflect the kind of women that would wear the clothes of the brand? "
I came to two conclusions
-Maybe, the Patrizia Pepe woman likes to be mysterious
- and the brand wanted to do something different and fun to attract the customer's attention.

On the other hand, I feel that the objects take away the focus of the clothes. Instead of looking at what the model is wearing, you look at the object hiding the model's face.  But then, I also feel like the fact that the rubber duck is hiding the model's face makes you look back at the sparkly golden dress and analyze it to imagine what she must have looked like. Similar to what a detective would do who's trying to find out someone's identity.

Overall I think this Ad Campaign is fun, unique, and at the same time mysterious, you?

Have a great Sunday.
P.S:Are you asking yourself the same question; "Who is Patrizia?"

  2. I actually think they're trying to create an every-woman, meaning that Patrizia could be anyone wearing the brand and anyone can wear the brand. But it sure has me wondering, too!

  5. The ad campaign is definitely something very unique and I am intrigued. But I agree, it does take the focus away from the clothes.

  7. Hmmm...while this is a clever PR campaign to get people talking, I agree with you that the objects do distract a lot from the clothes...

But I guess getting people to talk about your product is the first priority! Hehe.

Great post. I really had no idea this campaign existed until now. I find it very interesting.

I hope you had a great weekend! xo

  9. I think this campaign is cute and funny! Definitely different, which IMO is a good thing. Let's face it, most models used in campaigns are either well-known (i.e. you know what they look like anyway) or not that memorable. Choosing objects to cover a model's face is probably a smart move.

  14. I like your blog! I actually think the purpose of the ad is to make the brand more accessible because you can't see the model's face it could be any women behind the ojects ergo anyone can carry off these looks :)

  17. I love them. It's such a fun and catchy idea. Kind of like Maison Martin Margiela sends the models down the runway "faceless." It's neat.
